Masterpieces of Traditional Crafts: Korean Beauty Presented by 36 Masters

This exhibition presents works by thirty-six masters who have devoted themselves to tradition.
One hundred pieces produced by masters including those designated as Living Human Treasures in various fields of crafts such as lacquerware, bamboo pyrography, inkstones, calligraphy, fans, wooden furniture, musical instruments, jade, embroidery, and needlework are displayed.

Crafts by these masters embody the craftsmanship and values of traditional handicrafts, and yet reflect the trends of the modern lifestyle: traditional handicrafts are reborn as true masterpieces of today.

This exhibition space is divided into Sarangbang (Master’s Quarters) and Gyubang (Women’s Quarters) of a traditional house, Modern Day Living Room, and Jangdokdae where sauce jars of different sizes are placed together. Through these very different displayed spaces, the viewers can see the beauty of Korean crafts found in domestic spaces.
